Altenmarket ski resort is set in an charming, traditional Austrian mountain village surrounded by woods, with an idyllic alpine resort (Zauchensee) 10 kms away at the valley end. This is a fun and traditional resort that offers lots of skiing for beginners and intermediates (but nothing for experts), making this an ideal family resort.
Altenmarkt offers many excellent inns and restaurants. The locals are very friendly and have created an atmosphere that balances the typical village and the action resort aspects of the area.
Zauchensee is a village with a combination of traditional and modern hotels offering the unique charm of this traditional alpine region. It is 10 km south of Altenmarkt and 1350 metres above sea level and its ski area offers ski runs for beginners and advanced skiers and snowboarders.
Altenmarkt / Zauchensee are one of nine ski areas in the 'Salzburger Sport World' group of ski resorts (the others are Kleinarl, Radstadt, St. Johann-Alpendorf, Wagrain, Eben, Filzmoos and Flachau).
