Ellmau Ski Resort, Austria

Ellmau ski resort is set in a traditional Austrian village, with chalet style buildings clustered around a white-washed church. It has 55km of runs, plus it's a key resort in the 'SkiWelt lift pass' group, which is one of the largest in Austria with a total of 250km of pistes. In addition, Ellmau ski resort has recently added to the even larger Kitzbuheler Alpen Pass, which offers virtually unlimited skiing.

The village is set within alpine meadows and forests, below the ruggedly beautiful Wilder Kaiser (Wild Emperor) mountains. Ellmau ski resort is the largest village in the ski welt area in terms of number of beds, and offers excellent sports and leisure facilities, including an adventure swimming pool and a sports complex.

Ellmau ski resort is also one of the quietest of the ski welt area resorts, mostly catering for beginners and families. There aren't many local runs for advance skier and snow reliability in this relatively low altitude region is not great, but snowmaking machines ensure good snow cover.
